Brett Favre Signs Bellevue Petition Today

Former USM and NFL quarterback, Brett Favre, signs petition for incorporation of Bellevue

(Lamar County, Miss.)—Today, former USM and NFL quarterback, Brett Favre, signed the petition in support of the incorporation of Bellevue to become a city in Mississippi.

Favre, a resident of the proposed incorporation area of Bellevue, signed the petition at an event at the Bellevue City Hall in the Bellegrass neighborhood. At the event, John Adcock, the proposed Mayor of Bellevue thanked Favre for his support of incorporating Bellevue and presented Favre with a ‘Favre 4 Bellevue’ jersey. Adcock stated, “It’s great to have the support of Brett Favre joining our efforts to incorporate Bellevue. His signature on this petition joins many others on the growing list of citizens who want to make sure we have increased police and fire protection as well as proper zoning standards on our commercial corridors. Most of all, this is about the quality of life of our community with the people of Bellevue making the decisions for Bellevue.”

As part of the incorporation procedures to become a new city in Mississippi, a petition must be filed in chancery court that includes several elements including signatures from two-thirds of registered voters in the proposed incorporation area. In addition, a proposed group of officers including a Mayor and Alderpersons must be submitted. Citizens of Bellevue are now in the process of gathering the required signatures needed from two-thirds of the registered voters in the area who support the incorporation of Bellevue.
